Cookies Policy

The protection of the personal data of our website visitors (Users) is a top priority for us. For this reason, we must inform you that our website, in full compliance with Article 4 of Law 3471/2006, sets and uses cookies to store and manage your preferences and to collect usage data, in order to distinguish you from other Users and to offer you a better browsing experience, while also helping us to improve the performance of our website. These cookies do not compromise the privacy and personal data of Users.

This policy explains the type of cookies we use, how we use them, and how you can control and manage them. We reserve the right to change this Cookie Policy at any time. Any changes to this policy will be effective from the moment the revised Cookie Policy is made available on our website. By consenting to the use of Cookies, you can more fully enjoy browsing our website. We hope that this policy will help you understand and feel more secure about our use of cookies.

1. What are cookies?

“Cookies” are small text files with information that are stored on the User’s computer, mobile phone, or other portable device (e.g., tablet) browser when they visit a website. This information may include data such as the date, time, and duration of the visit, language selection, sign-in and log-in attempts.

In simple terms, the way they work is as follows: When a User visits our website for the first time and consents to the use of cookies, the latter are stored on the User’s computer or portable device, so that the next time they visit our website, the cookies will offer them a personalized browsing experience.

In general, cookies are widely used to make websites work more efficiently. Under no circumstances do cookies contain personal information (e.g., name, address, age, etc.) or other information that would allow anyone to contact the website visitor by phone, e-mail, etc. Furthermore, the use of cookies in no way provides access to the files on the User’s computer, mobile phone, or other portable device. Therefore, the privacy and personal data of the User are not compromised.

2. What is the usefulness of cookies?

By using cookies, our website is able to store useful information about the User’s browsing on it, so that every time the User visits the website, the latter retrieves (i.e., remembers) this information and offers the User an effective browsing experience. For example, to facilitate the User, cookies can remember the browsing language selected by the user, so that they do not have to select it again on their next visit.

They can also record the User’s login attempts to the website, so that after a certain number of failed attempts, further verification of their details is required.

In addition, cookies help us to assess the traffic of our website, in order to improve its presentation and content, according to the preferences of our visitors.

3. What kind of cookies do we use on our website?

The use of cookies on our website is for the purpose of managing sessions and providing personalized content (language selection option), in order to meet the needs of the User and improve their browsing on our website. Also, cookies may be used to measure the traffic of our website, in order to improve its structure and content.

Session cookies are placed on your computer only for the duration of your visit to the website and expire automatically when you close your browser. Another type of cookie, known as persistent cookies, remains on your computer for a certain period of time.

Cookies, depending on their function and purpose, belong to different categories. Below, we provide a list of the different types of Cookies that we may use on our website by category: (a) Strictly Necessary and (b) Performance.

a. Strictly Necessary Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are very important, as they play a decisive role in the proper functioning of our website and allow the User to browse and use the functions of the website.

These cookies do not recognize the individual identity of the User and their acceptance is a prerequisite for the proper use of our website, so if you do not accept them or if you disable them, we cannot guarantee the effective operation of our website during your visit. You can set your browser to block the use of these cookies, however some parts of our website will not work.

The use of these cookies does not require the User’s consent, pursuant to paragraph 5 of Article 4 of Law 3471/2006, in conjunction with Opinion 4/2012 of the Article 29 Working Party.

Our website uses the following strictly necessary cookies:

b. Performance Cookies

In some cases, we may use Performance Cookies. These cookies allow us to improve the way our website works, as they collect information about how Users use our website, for example, which links on our website they visit most often and whether they receive error messages from the website.

This information includes the number of visits, the average duration of the visit, and which subpages of our website were viewed. All information is collected for statistical purposes and is therefore aggregated and anonymous.

Their purpose is solely to improve the performance and responsiveness of our website (e.g., to ensure that pages load quickly and are displayed correctly).

Your consent is required for the use of these cookies, as they do not fall under the exception of paragraph 5 of Article 4 of Law 3471/2006. You have the option, at any time, to delete these cookies through your browser’s pages.

4. Third parties that use cookies on our website

In order to provide services on our website, we cooperate with third parties, specifically Facebook. In particular, on our website, the User has the option to log in via Facebook, which may use its own Cookies to collect information about your activities on our website. These Cookies (third-party Cookies) are collected by the third party in case of log-in. We do not control these Cookies and to disable or reject them, please refer to the website of the respective third party.

5. Obtaining User consent

When you enter our website for the first time, you will see a notification in a prominent place at the bottom of the page, with which we ask for your consent to the use of cookies as follows:

“Our website uses cookies to measure its traffic and improve your browsing. By clicking “I accept cookies” you accept the use of these cookies while browsing our website, which you can control and edit or delete at any time either on our site or in your browser.”

Pursuant to paragraph 5 of Article 4 of Law 3471/2006 (which incorporated into Greek law Directive 2002/58/EC), the installation of cookies is permitted only if the User “has given his consent after clear and extensive information in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 11 of Law 2472/1997, as applicable”.

The same article defines as an exception to the obligation to obtain consent the case where the installation of cookies has as its sole purpose the “transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network” or “is necessary for the provision of an information society service, which has been explicitly requested by the user or subscriber.”

As mentioned above (see paragraph 3 under item a), the former Article 29 Working Party (an independent European group established by Directive 95/46/EC and dealing with issues related to the protection of personal data, as it was replaced by the European Data Protection Board, pursuant to Article 94 and recital 139 of the GDPR) with its Opinion 4/2012 had clarified the categories of cookies that fall under the above exception and that do not require the User’s consent, as they are also mentioned on the website of the Data Protection Authority under the thematic section: “Internet Services-The use of cookies on the internet” and which are as follows:

In this case, as mentioned above, your consent is only required for Performance Cookies, which you can reject or delete from your browser. Please note that if cookies are not enabled or disabled, it is possible that all functions of the website will not work as intended.

6. Changes to the Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy may be amended at any time without notice and for this reason we deem it appropriate to refer to it regularly. This came into force on 08/10/2019. In case of its amendment, the date on which it took place will be indicated. The Cookie Policy, as amended by the most recent amendment, is always considered to be in force.
